Florida RB Has Duke In Top Two

Dazmond Patterson is a standout RB prospect from Plant City HS.

"It's going pretty well. A lot of schools have been coming in. Spring is good. We just started in pads today. It was a successful day. We play Armwood," Dazmond Patterson said.

At 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds, Patterson talked about the recruiting process.

"Today we had Washington State, Memphis, Citadel, Virginia. The past few days we've had Georgia Southern, Texas Tech, North Carolina."

The standout RB prospect is still waiting for his first offer.

"Most of the schools are waiting to see what my film is like from the spring game. I had a good offseason and they wanna see it transfer to the field. Most are saying come to camp or see you at the spring game, things like that."

So what is he looking for in a school?

"First and foremost, I'm gonna look at academics. Duke and Miami are my top two schools with good academic programs in Law and Business. I also wanna look at playing time. A lot of schools want me to play corner, some slot, and some say running back so that will play a big part in where I go."

As a prospect: Patterson was one of the most productive running backs in the entire state last season. He got a lot of his yards between the tackles but he's at his best when on the outside and in the open field. At 5-foot-7 and 175 pounds, he lacks ideal size but makes up for it with superb quickness and instincts. He's a threat in the return game, too. Depending on what type of offense he ends up playing in at the college level, he could emerge as a slot receiver. Either way, he's an electrifying player who should be getting some BCS offers real soon.
