Five Stick Out For Rodney Purvis

For five-star shooting guard Rodney Purvis there are five schools that are still in the mix to land his commitment.

Five-star 2012 prospect Rodney Purvis is once again open in his recruitment, but at least for now his list seems fairly solid. The shooting guard has five schools on his list, and on the court continues to show why he is considered one of the best players in the class.

Playing in the EYBL this spring, Purvis has excelled. He has been one of the toughest guards to defend, and his team has also been successful.

"I think I have been doing pretty good," said Purvis of his play. "My team has been successful so that has been a plus."

After having his future seemingly figured out by committing to Louisville during the high school year, Purvis thought his spring and summer would be quiet on the recruiting front. However after some coaching changes at the school Purvis decided to de-commit from the Cardinals and now says that five schools are on his list.

"My top five are Duke, Kentucky, NC State, Louisville, and Memphis," said Purvis. "I just added Memphis last week."

According to Purvis the Tigers were able to get on the list with a little help from a current player who Purvis knows well.

"I like Coach (Josh) Pastner and I am really cool with Will Barton," said Purvis. "Will thinks it would be a good place for me so I am going to check them out as soon as possible."

One reason why Purvis has limited his school list already is because after he decided to reopen his recruitment things got a bit crazy for him and his family.

"It was tough, and it got kind of hectic so I trimmed my list down as much as I could," Purvis explained. "I have five schools I am still considering, and I am focused on them."

At the moment Purvis plans to take things slow and as of yet doesn't have any official visits set up. He is hoping to begin to get those planned after the summer.

When the time does come for Purvis to make his decision, he says it will be all about the relationship that he has with the respective coaches.

"I am just trying to develop a relationship with every coach on the staff, and that is about it really," said Purvis. "I just want to find a great relationship."
