Johnson Considering Commitment?

Late last week Duke fans caught some good news when this California WR said he was 95 percent sure he would be committing to the Blue Devils in the near future. So what has prompted such a strong statement? TDD spoke with Justin Johnson for the answer.

"I'd say the schools who have started to separate themselves from the rest of the pack are Duke, Colorado, Arizona State, Northwestern, and San Diego State," said Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco standout Justin Johnson. "They are sticking out because they have shown me the most interest over the last couple of months."

Among the group that is currently in the lead for the 6-foot-1, 185 pound prospect, only Duke has offered. Though each of the others has indicated offers will be forthcoming in the near future. So how did the Blue Devil offer come about, and what does it do for the Durham based program?

"The offer came after Coach Lubick shared my high school tape with the rest of the coaching staff. They were impressed and asked for my transcripts. Once they got all of that they decided to offer me. Since then Coach Lubick has been in contact the most and I love his attitude and approach. I honestly love Duke as a school because of its high academic standards and I love the program because they like to throw the ball and be aggressive on offense. I know I can be a great asset to the offense."

Johnson visited campus June 2nd through 4th and was impressed with what he saw. So much so that he was quoted as saying he's 95 percent sure he'll be committing to Duke. Two weeks removed from his trip, is the talented prospect feeling the same way?

"I thought about committing before the season starts, but I'm not really sure. The reason I'm really thinking about it is I want to lock up my spot at Duke."
