Westray Commits To Duke

Michael Westray has become the 13th commitment from the class of 2012.

"I committed to Duke this afternoon," said Waldorf (Md.) Westlake standout Michael Westray. "The main reason was my relationship with the coaches and the chance to get a degree from a school like Duke."

A big cornerback prospect with 4.4 speed in the forty yard dash, Westray chose Duke over an offer from North Carolina State and interest from schools such as Kansas State, Maryland, Michigan, and Penn State.

Though he's played cornerback for the better part of his prep career, Westray camped at Duke as a safety.

"The coaches at Duke camp told me to go with the safeties. While I was at cornerback and the coach told me he loves my work ethic. I was always first in line and gave 110-percent, but he told me to go to safety because they are offering two spots there and no cornerback spots are available."

Even with more offer on the way, Westray says his recruiting process is over and he's happy with his choice.

"This is my final choice. Duke is where I'm going. I'm not going to look or visit other schools."
