Poythress Interested In Duke Offer

As July continues on, Alex Poythress is one of the most sought-after players on the AAU circuit. The five-star small forward, and Scout's No. 15 overall prospect in 2012, Poythress recently spoke with TDD at the LeBron James Skills Academy to update his recruitment.

Poythress, who Scout also rates as the No. 4 small forward, has plenty of schools after him already as he claims offers from Florida, Vanderbilt, Memphis, UConn, Ohio State, Louisville, Georgia, Alabama, Stanford, Marquette, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech and Florida State.

Two new schools, however, are closely monitoring Poythress in July, including Duke. Alex spoke with Coach K before July began and got an update on Duke's interest.

"I talked to Coach K. He's going to try and evaluate me and get a little bit of a better feel for me," Poythress said. "I'd be interested (if they offered)."

Duke coaches were on-hand to track Poythress at the LeBron James Skills Academy as Coach K and assistant Chris Collins were in the stands during the final day of action. Poythress enjoyed the experience of the camp and all that it had to offer.

"It's going pretty good. I came last year and this year the competition is pretty much the same level as last year," Poythress said. "You have to attack, but you have to try to make the extra pass because you can usually find someone that is open."

Alex also teamed at LeBron with another Duke target; AAU teammate Tony Parker.

"Tony is on my team so I know I can play with him, and I had some other guys on my team that I've played with at other camps," Poythress explained.

To this point, Alex is still going through the recruiting process at his own pace. No list has currently been set.

"Maybe sometime this summer (I'll set a list), but I'm wide-open," Poythress said. "I don't have anything planned or setup. I don't have any favorites so far."
