The recruiting process is picking up quickly for Tyus Jones. The 6-1 point guard from Apple Valley High School has had a big spring and summer playing up on the Howard Pulley 17U team and recently saw his recruitment really pick up after Peach Jam.
"(I'm) definitely talking to a lot of coaches," Jones said of the recruiting process. "It's definitely picking up here, especially after Peach Jam. It's definitely been good and not nerve-racking, but a good opportunity and a good experience."
The offers have also started to come from some of the best programs in the country.
"After Peach Jam, I got a lot of offers," Jones said. "Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Arizona, Baylor, and Providence."
Duke is also showing a lot of interest in Jones, having already spoken to him on the phone. The Blue Devils have yet to offer, but have been in touch.
"I've been talking to Duke a lot," Jones said. "They're interested." Duke's interest picked up recently as Tyus spoke with Coach K on the phone after Peach Jam.
"I had to give (Duke) a call after Peach Jam. They said they were very interested and I would be the perfect point guard for them," Jones said of his conversations with Duke. "They look forward to recruiting me, and want me in the future to come there. It was crazy talking to Coach K, you can't even really get it in your head that he's on the phone. It was great."
At this point, the recruiting process is still very early for Jones, and he remains very open. Tyus does have his eye on some potential visits after July, however.
"I'm for sure going down to visit Ohio State," Jones said. "I'm going down there, and I'm trying to get to Iowa, too. I don't know outside of those two."
