Noel Updates Duke's Interest

As one of the nation's elite prospects, five-star center Nerlens Noel is drawing a lot of interest. In Orlando, the Massachusetts-native, and member of the 2013 class, spoke to TDD to update his recruitment and Duke's involvement.

Recently, Nerlens completed his season on the AAU circuit with BABC. Noel and his teammates often drew difficult opponents, but in one of the best games of the summer, Noel was matched up with Mitch McGary and the SYF Players. McGary, a Duke target in the 2012 class, and Noel have faced off other times before and on this occasion, Noel and his teammates scored a one-point victory.

"Mitch is a great competitor; always has his motor running. I'm good friends with him," Noel said. "He was my roommate at the Amar'e Stoudamire Camp. We became real close over there. He's a great player and he keeps it going no matter what."

While Nerlens is done with the AAU circuit, his recruitment is picking up quickly. Duke has been one of the schools active in reaching him.

"I've spoken to Coach Wojo, He's a really good guy," Noel said. "He told me about how he wants me to take a visit to campus and come up and meet Coach K some time."

Noel said that Duke has kept up interest in him over the course of the last several months.

"I've been hearing from them a lot lately," Noel said of Duke's interest. "They've been interested in me from the beginning."

At the moment, Noel has no official list or favorites but plans on figuring things out in the near future.

"No favorites, I'm just keeping it open," Noel said. "After these tournaments, when the summer is over, I plan on putting out a list."
