Blue Devils Pick Up D-Lineman

Michael Mann (6'5, 220, DE) has reportedly picked the Blue Devils after visiting officially last weekend.

With just two spots remaining in the class of 2012, the Blue Devils had three prospects on the board. That number is now down to one spot for two prospects after Colorado defensive lineman Michael Mann made his college choice over the weekend.

Mann confirmed the news with TDD early Monday morning after the story appeared in the Denver Post.

"Yes sir, I committed over the weekend," said Mann. "The visit was great and I'm happy with the decision."

He becomes the second player from that state to make Duke his choice, joining high school teammate Max McCaffrey.

Previously Mann told TDD that he was thinking of making a commitment to Duke should the coaching staff offer. After a week the Blue Devil coaches did just that and Mann has accepted.

"The offer came on Thursday and I took some time to make sure and that was it. I called the coaches, first Coach Knowles and then Coach Lubick, and let them know I was committing."

The 6-5 235 pound member of the three time defending Colorado State champs was an early commit to Arizona State, but the late season Sun Devil collapse and the eventual firing on Dennis Erickson forced Mann to reopen his recruitment.

Mann was courted immediately by UCLA and Colorado State in addition to Duke. Other schools who showed interest throughout this lengthy recruiting process included San Diego State, UNLV, Oregon, Stanford, Utah, Air Force, Michigan and Tennessee as well as Ivy League schools and the University of Iowa.
