Wilkerson measures out at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds and has been clocked with a 4.5 time in the forty yard dash. In the weight room he reports a bench press max of 275 pounds with a squat of 425. And then there is the versatility on the field.
"For my high school I play a little bit of everything. Last season I played quarterback, receiver, free safety, cornerback, and running back. Most schools are recruiting me as either a cornerback or wide receiver. I feel like the strength of my game is that I'm a playmaker. I have good hip motion and my speed in and out of breaks is strong as is my backpedal. I still need to work on my strength and top end speed to be an impact player at the next level."
Even so, the Blue Devils had seen enough film on Wilkerson to offer a scholarship early in the process.
"Coach Jim Collins offered me over a month ago. Their coaches are all telling me how good of a place Duke is and how well I'd fit in and excel in their system. I am listening and I want to know the history of the program and those involved - just like I do with any program."
Wilkerson denies a list of favorites and says his recruiting has just picked up. Over the summer he's planning on camps and visits in hopes of narrowing down his list.
"As of right now I'm looking to schedule visits. So far I've visited Georgia, Florida, and I went to some camps at Miami and Florida State. Those were all great experiences for me. Overall the recruiting process has picked up speed and I'm dealing with it all with the help of God and my family. The best way to go through this is to listen to everyone and give each school an equal shot. I'm blessed to have this opportunity."
Outside of football Wilkerson competes for North Marion's basketball and track squads. He reports a favorite subject of American Government and says he hopes to major in culinary arts.
As a junior, he had 1,250 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns. He had 30 tackles and an interception on the defensive side of the ball.
As a sophomore, Wilkerson finished with 967 passing yards, 300 rushing yards and 12 scores.
