Kite flying high as Duke's 4th commit

Jake Kite (6'1, 185, S) verbally committed to Duke today at the Spring Game.

"I committed to Duke today," said Roanoke (Va.) Hidden Valley standout Jake Kite. "I'm going to be a Blue Devil and I'm really excited about the opportunity.

Kite chose Duke over offers from Ohio and North Carolina State, as well as interest from Illinois, Stanford, East Carolina, and Pittsburgh.

Heading into the visit there was a growing sense that a end to the recruiting process was in sight as Kite told TDD.

"Honestly they'd been talking to me a for a while and I was extremely interested in everything they were saying. They have a plan for me and for the program."

Accordingly, it appears as though this commit will last through Signing Day 2013.

"Everything there is just perfect for me. When I told Coach Cutcliffe in our meeting, he was really happy and gave me a hug. He then said 'let's go tell the other coaches' and they all welcomed me."

Kite, who measures out at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds is a multi-positional player and a multi-sport athlete at Hidden Valley High, though most programs projects him as a safety at the next level.

"For my high school team I play safety and slot receiver while also returning kicks and punts. I also wrestle as well. This year I dropped down to 170 pounds, so I'm still working on getting my weight back up for football season. I finished third this year in the state AA class for wrestling with a record of 39 wins in 45 matches."

Kite becomes the fourth commit for Duke in the class of 2012.
