PA QB Talks Duke Interest

Quarterback has already been position of priority in Durham under head coach David Cutcliffe. To that end the Blue Devils have offered another signal caller in 2013.

Monessen (Pa.) quarterback Chavas Rawlins is a highly regarded athlete in Western Pennsylvania and schools around the country are starting to take notice.

Rawlins holds offers from West Virginia, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Illinois, Northwestern, South Florida, Duke, Kent State and Akron with several other programs in the hunt.

At 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, Rawlins had long been on Duke's list of potential prospects, but didn't receive an offer until late last month.

"They offered me in March. I've been talking with Coach Latina a lot and he's the one who let me know they were offering. With Duke you know they have great academics and the football team is getting better."

And, being a quarterback, Rawlins is aware of the reputation of head coach David Cutcliffe.

"They have a lot of experience with top quarterbacks, and that's something you have to think about when talking about Duke."

Rawlins is quickly moving forward with the process and says he expects to have a decision in the books before the summer kicks into full swing.

"I'm thinking by late May or early June."
