Ramsay talks Duke commitment

The fourth player to make a commitment earlier this week was Georgia defensive lineman Mike Ramsay. The Marietta, Georgia caught up with TDD on Thursday to discuss the decision and more.

"I committed to Duke on Monday night," said Marietta (Ga.) Waker School standout Mike Ramsay. "Honestly I just fell in love with the school and where the program is heading. The coaches played a big part in this, I love their energy and I really love and enjoyed the campus."

Ramsay was being recruited by Duke, Yale, Georgia, and Virginia. He had offers from Navy, Georgia State, and Furman. After camping in Durham, however, the first BCS offer came and it was the last one he needed.

"Coach Cutcliffe offered me personally [at camp]. The first coach to contact me in this process was Coach Petri. When I had a chance to call the coaches [to commit] they were both really excited and welcomed me to Duke."

That commitment came on the heels of a visit and camp session in Durham.

"That was the big thing for me. When I was there I felt that I did very well and impressed a lot of the coaches with my performance. I felt like I really showed my talent level and skill set."

Currently Ramsay is listed at 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds with a 4.79 forty time. He is projected to play along the defensive line in Durham.

"Right now they are talking about me playing defensive end, and I think I am well prepared to step in and contribute early on. Before I get to school I plan on increasing the speed of my footwork and my overall speed. I'm also going to continue working out to add size and strength."
