Hinnant down to four schools

Fountain Valley (Calif.) offensive lineman J.D. Hinnant has narrowed his list to four schools and is close to setting up his second official visit.

J.D. Hinnant is one of the elite offensive lineman out West and one of the few top prospects still un-committed. With over double digit scholarship offers to choose from, Hinnant has narrowed his choices to four.

"In no order, I'm down to California, Duke, Nebraska and Oregon," Hinnant said. "I've already visited all of them unofficially except Nebraska and I have an official trip set there for (Sept. 29) when they play Wisconsin. I'm also close to setting a visit with Oregon for (Sept. 7) because we play on a Thursday that weekend.

"I'll probably try and visit Oregon and Duke after the season is over. I just visited Duke and loved it there. It's a great academic school for sure and I'm going to be watching them closely this season to see how they do on the field since they don't have the same athletic reputation as the others."

With so many players out West making early decisions, Hinnant said there is some pressure to make an early decision.

"I've noticed that, it's pretty crazy how many players are committing right now," Hinnant said. "I know by waiting, you always risk losing your spot to one of your favorite schools if they fill up but I'm pretty set on going through the process.

"I want to take all these visits and spent as much time as possible thinking it through. I don't want to make an emotional decision or feel rushed so I want to take my time and make sure I'm doing the right thing here."
