Tonight he'll sit down with Mike Krzyzewski and associate head coach Chris Collins to give Duke a shot at furthering their pitch. Following the visit with the Blue Devils he'll sit down with Kentucky, Stanford, and Georgetown.
Joining Coaches K and Collins will be Parker, and his parents - mother Lola and father Sonny. Previously Lola sat down with TDD for an extended interview to outline what the priority list will be when the family starts evaluating the innumerable choices. One thing that the Parker family matriarch emphasized was the need for honesty.
"The coaches who are selling the hoopla, the trainers, the nutrition, and everything just about the university like the fan club, the crowd, and that kind of stuff just really doesn't matter to me one bit.," she told TDD. "We raised Jabari to respect this game and play it the right way so he can play anywhere. Because of that, the kind of stuff I mentioned really doesn't matter to him or us. He knows that you can remain who you are and be comfortable with yourself and to worry about comparing himself to other people and what they have."
"We'd rather a coach talk with us about stuff that's really important. Stuff like how are you going to make sure that Jabari has privacy and how are you going to protect him security wise. Things like that are the important conversations that we have with coaches because we care about Jabari and want what's best for him."
Following his string of visits, Parker is expected to narrow his list to a handful of schools - likely five - before scheduling various official visits. He is expected to make a decision during the Spring Signing Period.
