Future Blue Devils: Week 6

The current crop of commits was in action last week, taking part in their senior seasons across the country. Here's a run down of their performances:

Joseph Ajeigbe, RB, Norco (Calif.) - Norco fell against nationally ranked Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany by a 27-13 margin.  The Cougars were without the services of their starting quarterback for most of the night due to a hamstring injury.  Without the passing game to balance things out, Norco fell behind 17-0, but got a life from future the future Blue Devil running back.

Ajeigbe finished the game with 22 carries for 174 yards and touchdown runs of 10 yards and  1 yard.

Terrence Alls, WR, Miami (Fla.) Dade Christian - Dade Christian kept the ball on the ground against Westland Hialeah in a 40-19 rout.  DC completed just two of three passes for 40 yards - one of those passes went to Alls for four yards. The future Blue Devils added another 20 yards on the ground as part of a rushing attack that racked up 323 yards on 41 carries.

Darren Andrews, CB, LaPuente (Calif.) Bishop Amat - Bishop Amat moved to 5-0-1 on the season with a 31-7 victory over Culver City.   Amat lead 7-0 at halftime, but reeled off 24 straight to take a 31-0 lead with less than two minutes to play.

Breon Borders, CB, Statesville (N.C.) - The Greyhounds improved to 5-1 on the season with a 56-13 victory over Carson High.  Borders reported 9 stops in helping the defense limit Carson to just 55 yards in the first half of play.

Gabe Brandner, OL, Columbia (S.C.) Heathwood Hall - Heathwood fell to 2-4 on the season with a 25-21 loss to Cardinal Newman.

"We had over 200 yards rushing, but we just gave up a lot of big pass plays. I finished with nine tackles."

"Seeing Duke beat Wake was a great thing. The team is off to a great start, and next week will be a good game against Virginia."

Quay Chambers, WR, Monroe (N.C.) - Monroe improved to 4-3 on the year with a 64-0 win over North Stanly.

Austin Davis, OL, Mansfield (Tex.) - Mansfield fell to 2-3 after getting routed by Stoughton 25-6.  The weather played a big part as did Stoughton's running attack which yielded four touchdowns for its starting fullback.  Mansfield, which usually has enjoyed success on the ground, was unable to get anything going early on and settled for several three and outs on the way to a 19-0 halftime deficit.  The team did manage a 70 yard drive to start the third quarter, but that was the end of their scoring.

T.J. Douglas, WR, Fort Myers (Fla.) - It's a five game winning streak for T.J. Douglas and Fort Myers High.   It was another big game for the future Blue Devil who ran for 218 yards and two touchdowns while throwing a pair of short touchdown passes.

Evrett Edwards, CB, Woodbridge (Va.) - Woodbridge won a second straight, beating Osbourn Park 27-7 on Friday night.  Edwards played on both sides of the ball and finished with two receptions for 10 yards and four rushes for 66 yards.  On defense he reported 6 stops and two pass deflections.

Jake Kite, S, Roanoke (Va.) Hidden Valley - It was home-coming for Hidden Valley and the team responded with a 35-12 victory over Bassett.  The hosts got to the Bassett QB early and ended up knocking him out of the game.  Hidden Valley RB Walker Brand finished with 39 carries for a career-high 301 yards and four touchdowns.

"It was a great win, and a much needed one," Kite told TDD. "I had 10 tackles, a pass breakup, a forced fumble and recovery on defense. I also returned kicks and had three returns for 85 yards, and 2 punt returns for 60 yards."

"On Saturday it was great to see Duke get such a great win in a huge game against Wake Forest!"
