Tracking former Blue Devils playing their professional ball overseas

On Saturday, Jon Scheyer and Gran Canaria hosted Caja Laboral Baskonia as the team from Basque country had a long trip from Greece all the way to the Canary Islands in the course of two days.  The visitors got off to a good start before letting their opponent creep back into the game before taking charge and finishing with an 80-64 win.  Jon had 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in 22 minutes.  Spencer Nelson had 17 points and 9 rebounds, Paulao Prestes had 12 points, and Ryan Toolson had 10 points.  In the win, ex-NBA player Andres Nocioni had 24 points, Washington Wizards 2010 second round pick Nemanja Bjelica, whose rights were subsequently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, had 12 points and 13 rebounds, and ex-NBA player Maciej Lampe and ex-Alaska player Brad Oleson had 12 points each.  Here is the box score.   Carrem Gay and Toulouse got a great win after a second half surge allowed them to hold on for a 72-69 win over Hainaut.  Carrem had 16 points and 5 rebounds in 33 minutes and Demetress Adams had 11 points and 6 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-Boston College player Stefanie Murphy had 14 points and 8 rebounds, ex-Florida International player Vera Perostiyska 13 points, and ex-Georgia player Ashley Houts had 10 points.  Here is the box score.

Lyon has to be looking forward to the imminent arrival of Mistie Bass after her earlier than expected exit from the WNBA playoffs.  They lost 74-61 to Nantes and got 13 points from Danielle Page.  In the win, ex-Colorado player Caroline Aubert had 14 points and ex-WNBA player Bernadette Ngoyisa had 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

Charleville could use Sheana Mosch soon as they continue to play games short-handed, but they did earn a 42-35 win over Landes after a key run in the middle quarters as they outscored their opponents 8-3 in the second quarter and 10-1 in the third quarter.  Here is the box score.

Chante Black joined her Turkish club Samsun in time for their second game of the season-opening cup.  They had beaten Besiktas on Friday without Chante and on Saturday, they faced Canik Belediye and did enough in the 4th quarter for a 69-65 win.  Chante had 10 points and 14 rebounds in 38 minutes as her teammate, ex-Liberty player Megan Frazee, did not player.  In the loss, ex-LSU player Doneeka Hodges had 10 points.  Here is the box score.

On Sunday, Shelden Williams and Elan Chalon were back in domestic league action at Poitiers.  The game was close throughout as they needed a late comeback to seal an 83-79.  Shelden led his team with 17 points and 9 rebounds in 26 minutes as Blake Schilb added 13 points and 9 assists.  In the loss, ex-Liberty player Anthony Smith had 24 points and ex-St. Joseph's player Ahmad Nivins, who was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round in 2009 before his right were traded to the New York Knicks, had 19 points and 7 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade continued Adriatic League play in Croatia at Cedevita.  The team got off to a solid start before a poor third quarter gave them too big of a deficit to come back from as their late surge fell short as they lost 68-66.  DeMarcus had 5 points and 4 rebounds in 24 minutes.  In the win, ex-St. Bonaventure player Marques Green had 10 points.  Here is the box score.
