Recruiting Recap: Holmes was committed to NC State from July until January. Then, after the coaching change in Raleigh, Holmes re-opened his recruitment and the Blue Devils received an official visit that ended up flipping the commitment to Duke.

"I had a better bond with the coaches and the players at Duke," Holmes told Nathan Warters of "And it's a team on the turnaround, and I want to be part of that."

Duke's recruitment of Holmes begin during the summer of his junior year he made the trip to Durham for camp and continued until he made the decision to attend NC State over offers from Michigan, Boston College, Clemson, Illinois, Maryland, and South Carolina.

Scouting Report: "Holmes is physically ready to play in college right now. He played wide receiver on offense and that helped him become a better defensive back. His length allows him to cover a lot of ground in the secondary and make plays all over the field. He also has good instincts and a high football I.Q." - Michael Clark,

Projected 2014 Role: Holmes could very well factor into the defensive backfield's early two-deeps. He is the best bet to play as a safety in the class of 2013.
