Weight: 295 pounds
Position / Projected Pos: OC / OC
Ranking: Three-star offensive center ranked #23 nationally
Recruiting Recap: Davis chose Duke over interest from Texas, SMU, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington in March. Since committing, he has received offers from West Virginia, Arizona State, and Wake Forest.
He credited former Blue Devil All-American Vince Oghobaase with making his decision easy.
"He really made the visit great. Every time I had a question or concern, Vince was there to answer it and reassure me that everything was a family atmosphere. He took us around to the Chapel, to the student union, and to the medicate facilities. He's from Texas, so I could relate a little bit with him. It was really great and he really made the visit that much better."
Noteable: Davis measures out at 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds with weight room maxes of 315 pounds on the bench press and 460 in the squat. He projects as an interior lineman based on his visit with the coaches.
"They want me to play center, but I'll play wherever the coaches say they need me. I'm looking forward to being in the program and playing for those coaches. They are all great people."
Away from the field Davis is a 4.0 student, ranking in the top five percent of his class at Mansfield High. He's also the junior class president. With that kind of academic profile it's no surprise Duke came calling.
"I want to go pre-med and to end up as an orthopedic surgeon. Obviously Duke's academics and medical program were a big factor for me."
Projected 2013 Role: As with most linemen, Duke will redshirt Davis in 2013 with eyes on him working towards taking over the center or one of the guard spots by the 2015 season.
