Prospect Profile: Ryan Smith

Signing Day profile, analysis, and recruiting recap for Las Vegas CB prospect.

Name: Ryan Smith
Height: 5-foot-8
Weight: 165 pounds
Position / Projected Pos: WR / ATH

Ranking: Two-star wide receiver, ranked #278 nationally

Recruiting Recap: Smith committed to New Mexico in December, but took another visit to Duke later on. On that visit he was offered a scholarship and committed to Duke in January.

Smith chose Duke over offers from New Mexico, Colorado State, and Utah State.

The prospect's father was on staff at New Mexico, but when his father took a job at Syracuse, Smith decided to re-open things.

Expert Analysis:"He's a smaller receiver, but runs good routes and knows how to get open. Has very good hands, some receivers at the high school level will catch the ball with their body, not Smith. He catches with his hands, sees it in and tucks it away. Has very good body control. Is very quick but also has very god overall speed." - Jason Jewell

Projected 2013 Role: Smith will likely redshirt, though his ticket outside of that fate would be to factor into the running game. Still, a year in the weight room will do him some good in preparing for 2014.
