International Alumni Update: Feb. 26

Tracking former Blue Devils playing their professional ball overseas

On Saturday, Jess Foley and the Townsville Fire started their playoff campaign knowing that each game could be their last.  As the fourth place team in the regular season, they needed to win three games in a row to win the championship.  They beat third place Adelaide 60-53 to move on to face the loser of the game between the first and second place teams.  Jess had 8 points in 35 minutes and Jessica Adair had 10 points and 9 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-WNBA player Suzy Batkovic had 15 points and 6 rebounds and ex-WNBA player Laura Summerton had 10 points.  Here is the box score.

  Sheana Mosch and Charleville ended winning 90-75 over Hainaut after a second half offensive explosion.  Sheana had 23 points and 8 assists after playing all 40 minutes and Aminata Diop had 24 points.  In the loss, ex-Georgia player Ashley Houts had 30 points and 6 rebounds and ex-Arizona player Ifunaya Ibekwe had 22 points.  Here is the box score.

  On Sunday, Mistie Bass and Lyon beat Landes 69-53.  Mistie had 16 points in 20 minutes.  In the loss, ex-UAB player Carmen Guzman had 22 points.  Here is the box score.

  DeMarcus Nelson and Red Star Belgrade started poorly in Slovenia as they faced Krka Novo Mesto in Adriatic League play as Euroleague places are still up for grabs, but they finally established control in the second half to win 57-52.  DeMarcus had 7 points in 26 minutes.  Here is the box score.

  Jon Scheyer and Gran Canaria continued to struggle as they try to hang on to a playoff place after losing 85-74 in Basque Country to Caja Laboral.  Jon was quiet in 11 minutes off the bench.  Ryan Toolson had 15 points and 6 rebounds, Spencer Nelson had 14 points and 9 rebounds, and Brad Newley had 13 points.  In the win, ex-NBA player Andres Nocioni had 18 points and 6 rebounds and ex-NBA player Maciej Lampe had 16 points.  Here is the box score.

  Marty Pocius and Real Madrid overcame a slow start before continuing their strong domestic form with an 88-65 win at Fuenlabrada.  Marty got another start, but was quiet in 15 minutes.  Sergio Llull had 23 points, Nikola Mirotic had 15 points, Sergio Rodriguez had 13 points, and Rudy Fernandez had 11 points and 8 rebounds.  In the loss, ex-Quinnipiac player James Feldeine had 16 points.  Here is the box score.

On Monday, Karima Christmas and Maccabi Ramat Hen continued to struggle in this second stage of the season against other teams in the top half of the standings as they lost 76-49 to Maccabi Ashdod.  Karima had 12 points and 6 rebounds in 36 minutes.  Ivory Latta had 13 points and Jenna Smith had 10 points and 16 rebounds. In the win, Ashley Shields, the first player to go to the WNBA directly from a JC, had 29 points and 6 assists and ex-Texas A&M player Danielle Adams had 17 points and 7 rebounds.  Here is the box score.

Daniel Ewing and Besiktas lost 78-70 to Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce despite fighting hard in the third quarter to overturn a first half deficit.  Daniel had 6 points in 23 minutes and Damir Markota had 15 points and 6 rebounds.  In the win, Bojan Bogdanovic, who was drafted in the second round in 2011 by the Miami Heat before a pair of draft day trades moved his rights to the Brooklyn Nets, had 15 points and ex-NBA player David Andersen had 12 points.  Here is the box score.

Shelden Williams and Chalon faded late to lose 80-65 to Strasbourg.  Shelden had 11 points and 6 rebounds in 24 minutes.  Blake Schilb had 22 points and 6 rebounds and Kevin Houston had 10 points.  In the win, ex-Pitt player Ricardo Greer had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, ex-Buffalo player Louis Campbell had 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists, and ex-NBA player Alexis Ajinca had 16 points.  Here is the box score.
