Sophomore grabs a Duke offer

Reggie Gallaspy is one of the top sophomore prospects in North Carolina. On Thursday, he picked up his second scholarship offer.

"Duke offered me today," said Reggie Gallaspy, who was also recently offered by North Carolina. "Coach (Jim) Collins called my high school coach and let him know that they wanted to offer me." He was able to talk to the Blue Devils' coaching staff later in the day.

"I called them after school and I got to talk to Coach (David) Cutcliffe," said the 6-foot, 205-pound running back. "He told me he watched my film today and I could play a big part in Duke's success in a few years."

Duke has impressed Gallaspy.

"I like the vibe they have there," he said. "It's relaxed and upbeat. The education of course is great. Also, the new running backs coach (Re'quan Boyette) played at Duke and he knows how the program runs. If he was my coach, it would be a real good experience."

Gallaspy said he thought his next offer could come from Wake Forest. He is also attracting interest from Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State.

The Southern Guilford standout will take some visits in the near future.

"I'm visiting Duke next Wednesday for their spring scrimmage," he said. "On April 12, I'm going up to (North) Carolina for their spring game, too."

As for the summer, Gallaspy will likely camp at Alabama, Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State and South Carolina.

Gallaspy ran for 1,757 yards and 20 touchdowns during his sophomore season.
