Hood suffers injury at USA camp

After surviving the first round of cuts for Team USA this week, Duke sophomore forward Rodney Hood suffered an injury to his right leg on Wednesday night.

The injury, according to published reports, is to Hood's right Achilles' tendon, with the severity of injury unknown at this time. Hood was removed from practice, and left the gym on crutches as a precautionary measure on Wednesday evening.

A USA Basketball official indicated that anything approaching a diagnosis wouldn't be available until sometime on Friday.

Hood, a 6-foot-8 forward who transferred to Duke from Mississippi State, was expected to be one of the two best players on the Blue Devils' roster this season. During the 2011-2012 season he averaged 10.3 points and 4.8 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Injuries to key players have been notable in Durham over the last few seasons with Kyrie Irving sidelined for most of 2010-2011, and Ryan Kelly sidelined for much of the 2012-2013 season. Both players did, however, return eventually during those years.
