Kelly selected 48th by LA Lakers

Ryan Kelly was selected by Los Angeles with the 48th overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Ryan Kelly was taken in the second round (No. 48) by the Los Angeles Lakers. Duke has now had two or more players selected in the NBA Draft 15 times under Coach K.

Kelly, an honorable mention All-ACC performer, averaged 12.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, while shooting 42.2 percent from three-point range and 81.2 percent from the foul line for the season. A two-time ACC Player of the Week in 2013, Kelly turned in one of the best performances in Duke history when he returned from injury to score a career-high 36 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, including 7-of-9 from three-point range, in a 79-76 win over No. 5 Miami. He missed 13 games after suffering a right foot injury on Jan. 8 against Clemson.

Kelly concluded his career with 949 points, 465 rebounds and 133 blocks in 126 games. He helped Duke to a pair of ACC Championships, four in-season tournament titles and the 2010 NCAA Championship. Kelly ranks fourth in the Duke record books in career winning percentage with the Blue Devils compiling a 111-15 (.881) record with him on the floor.

With two players selected in the 2013 NBA Draft, Krzyzewski has now mentored 47 draft selections. Duke has produced 80 NBA draft picks overall.
