ACC Football Kickoff Primer

The start of the 2013 College Football Season kicks off this weekend with TDD/ covering it all.

With the ACC Football Kickoff this weekend, here is a quick preview of what to expect in Greensboro, NC.

Sunday is the player interview day. Last week the ACC released the 28 players who will represent their schools at the event. Duke will send quarterback Anthony Boone and cornerback Ross Cockrell. Boone is replacing Sean Renfree, who graduated, and Cockrell returns as one of the top (if not the top) defensive backs in the conference. His five interceptions last year tied for best in the ACC.

Three of the top five passing quarterbacks will also be at the event (the other two, Mike Glennon and Sean Renfree, graduated last season). Clemson's Tajh Boyd, recently taunted by South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, UNC's Bryn Renner, and Miami's Stephen Morris all are on the list. Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas will also be there after a disappointing 7-6 season last year.

The kickoff also provides a look at some of the new guys in the conference. Pitt will send wide receiver Devin Street. He led the now defunct Big East in receptions last year with 73 and was third in yards with 975. Pitt will also send defensive lineman Aaron Donald, a senior who was fifth in the league last season with 5.5 sacks.

Newcomer Syracuse is bringing two players from the trenches with center Macky MacPherson and defensive tackle Jay Bromley. MacPherson is representing an offense that will look quite different from last year after losing quarterback Ryan Nassib, left tackle Justin Pugh and top receivers Alec Lemon and Marcus Sales.

ACC commissioner John Swofford will hold his football forum on Sunday as well. He should have quite a bit to talk about with all of the new bowl partnerships.

On Monday, the ACC Supervisor of Officials will answer questions about any rule changes that occur. Monday is also the day that coaches will be available.

The ACC will have live video streaming from one of the media room's. On Twitter, you can use the hashtag #ACCKickoff. The 2013 ACC Football Preseason Poll will be announced early afternoon on Monday, and the Preseason All-ACC Team will be announced next Wednesday.

TDD will also be at the kickoff, so check back for updates on Sunday and Monday.
