Snead and Crowder show out in scrimmage

Big plays highlighted the team's second scrimmage of the preseason on Friday morning

DURHAM, N.C. – Big plays ruled the morning during the Duke football team's 81-snap scrimmage Friday at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Duke's first-team offense scored touchdowns on a 37-yard pass from quarterback Anthony Boone to wide receiver Jamison Crowder and a 36-yard rush by running back Josh Snead, while freshman quarterback Quay Chambers added a 63-yard touchdown run with the second team.

Boone finished the morning 5-of-11 passing for 93 yards and a touchdown. Backup quarterback Brandon Connette hit 5-of-8 passes for 29 yards, and freshman Parker Boehme completed 9-of-12 passes for 65 yards.

Chambers' 65 rushing yards were a team-high, while Snead led the running backs with 45 yards on two carries.

Duke's defense logged six sacks and five pass breakups. Sophomore linebacker Deion Williams forced a fumble that was recovered by freshman defensive back Bryon Fields for the day's only turnover.
