One on one with Seventh Woods

Considered one of the top athletes in the class of 2016, South Carolina phenom Seventh Woods has a number of high major programs chasing him ealry on in the process including Duke. He spoke with TDD about that and more recently.

Can you recap your Team USA Camp experience?

Seventh Woods: I thought it was a really good experience. I got a chance to play with one of the best point guards out there in Tyus Jones. It was a really good experience for me to be able to learn from him.

Being one of the younger guys out there, what were some of the main things you learned from the older players?

The main thing for me was realizing that you have to prove yourself each day as a player.

From the reports it seemed as though you were making an impact on the defensive end of the court...

My main thing on the court is to go hard on defense. This was my third time camping at Team USA, and that was a goal of mine.

Have you started to get into the recruiting process yet?

No, not really. My parents are taking care of all of that for me right now.

Were there any schools you really followed growing up?

Yeah, growing up I always liked watching South Carolina and North Carolina. I would always watch them on TV.

Duke is a school that has been mentioned with you as well, have you heard from them?

Yeah, actually. I went and visited Duke for a game last year, and I loved it. I really liked their defensive intensity and the way they played. It was great to see.

Did you have a chance to visit with the coaches on the visit?

I did. I had a chance to talk with Coach K. We really just talked about the school mostly.

Have you thought about planning or setting up other visits this year?

No, not at the moment.
