Duke the early leader for big time DT

Harry Lewis is one of the top 2015 prospects in Virginia. He spoke to Scout.com about his recruitment, future and more.

Harry Lewis is closing in on double-digit scholarship offers.

"I have offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Virginia and Virginia Tech," said the 6-foot-2, 262-pound Lewis. "Nebraska, Wake Forest and USC are also recruiting me."

While he has multiple offers, one school has separated themselves.

"Duke is my leader," he said. "Academics are really important to me and their academic programs are very, very good. And the football team is having a really good season."

He thinks highly of the coaching staff.

"Coach (David) Cutcliffe is a great coach and he knows what he's doing," he said. "I like him a lot – I like all the coaches."

He has developed strong relationship with one particular coach.

"(Running backs) coach (Re'quan) Boyette is recruiting me," Lewis said. "When I went down there, he really looked out for me on the tour. He took me to talk to some of the academic people. He also told me a lot about the football program and the school."

Along with the Blue Devils, Lewis said he is focused on Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Old Dominion, Penn State, Virginia and Virginia Tech. However, he has not eliminated anyone.

Lewis mentioned the possibility of a few trips in the near future.

"I haven't taken any visits lately, but I'm probably going back down to Duke again to see a basketball game," Lewis said. "UVa also wants me to come to a basketball game, so I'll probably go up there, too."

Lewis plans to make his decision sometime next spring and said a few main factors will help him make his choice.

"The main things for me are going to be the academics at the school, atmosphere and area around the school," he said.

During his junior season, Lewis had 65 tackles and 11 sacks. He was also an all-conference selection.
