Commit Profile: Trevon Lee

As the class of 2014 signs their national letters of intent, we run down each signee's recruiting process and look back at what it took for the Blue Devils to earn his commitment. Next up is Florida wide receiver Trevon Lee.

Name: Trevon Lee

School: Cardinal Gibbons HS (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Ht/Wt/40: 6-foot-1 / 198lbs / 4.45

Projected Position: Wide Receiver

Recruiting Recap: Lee went all the way down to the week of Signing Day before committing to Duke following his late January official visit. The three star Florida wide receiver chose the Blue Devils over finalists Vanderbilt and Stanford. Others to offer included Auburn, Boston College, California, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Illinois, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, South Florida, Stanford, USC, Vanderbilt, West Virgina, and Wisconsin.

Quotable: "I want to go pre-med and they are all great academic schools. They are elite and so the real deal breaker will be the relationship with the coaches and the overall atmosphere of the campus."

"I've got great relationships with the Duke coaches. The true coaches want to do more than develop you as a football player, the true coaches develop you as a young man and understand there is a life after football. I think the all the coaches I'm considering really understand and believe that."

"I'm excited about the amazing job being done with the program and their brand. The brand of Duke Football has evolved tremendously over the past few years with the job done by Coach Cutcliffe and his staff. Duke is now being looked at as a football school as well as basketball. Please understand that when I speak on the brand of Duke I am simply referring to the athletic portion of the recruiting pitch. Obviously, the academics speak for themselves."

NOTE: In his final season for Cardinal Gibbons High, Lee recorded 53 catches for 778 yards and seven touchdowns. He reports his current vital statistics as 6-foot-1, 178 pounds with a 4.45 forty time. He also learned a lot from his senior campaign.

Self Evaluation: "Following the season I definitely feel as though I'm a better player. I feel like I've gotten better at route running and reading the defenses. Especially since I was double teams so often. I do know that I need to work on getting stronger and beating defensive backs off the line when they try to jam me."

"I think I have great field speed, I think my hands are a real strength, and I seem myself as a playmaker. I can always get better, but those are some of my strengths. This season I believe my size and improved strength will help me be a better player. I've worked hard to get bigger."

Evaluation: "Lee has great speed, he can flat fly. He projects to being a big play weapon on the outside and should be one of Broward's best. Lee needs to get stronger and work on the finer points of the position, but that should come with time." - Geoff Vogt

Lee is a player with good size and terrific speed off the line. He has strong hands and can create separation between himself and defenders. A strong route runner, Lee is also very deceptive and change direction(s) on a dime.

Projected 2014 Season Status: Duke didn't wait for several months for Lee to be left on the sidelines as a freshman. He was the top receiver target for eight months, and the Blue Devils have every intention of Lee being on the field in August.
