Commit Profile: Chris Taylor

As the class of 2014 signs their national letters of intent, we run down each signee's recruiting process and look back at what it took for the Blue Devils to earn his commitment. Next up is Florida wide receiver Chris Taylor.

Name: Chris Taylor

School: University School of Nova S. (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Ht/Wt/40: 6-foot-1 / 175lbs / 4.5

Projected Position: Wide Receiver

Recruiting Recap: Taylor chose the Blue Devils over offers from Appalachian St,Eastern Michigan, Fordham, Holy Cross, Marshall, UMass, Ohio, and Western Michigan. He was also fielding calls from schools such as Auburn, Fla Atlantic, Fla International, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, and Tulane.

Quotable: "I called Coach Montgomery, my recruiting coach, this morning around 7 AM to tell him I was committing," said Chris Taylor. "He was ecstatic, and told me he was going to let the staff know…shortly thereafter, the coaches were contacting me via Facebook and text to say how excited they all were."

"I had visited Duke last year when they played Miami, but as far as recruiting goes, there really wasn't a very extended period. I actually received the offer from them last week, and I had honestly been thinking about it. Of course, I didn't want to be too hasty."

Self Evaluation: "I feel that I'm a guy who works hard on his route running, and I have the ability to take the top off the defense by extending them vertically. Of course, any receiver will tell you that the thing he has to work towards is being 100 percent when catching the ball. You have to catch everything, because doing that will make you unstoppable. That's what I work towards every day."

Projected 2014 Season Status: Taylor could challenge for a spot in the receiver rotation, though it's somewhat unlikely as Duke will return a hefty portion of the receiving stable. The smart money is on the Florida WR spending a year preparing for 2015.
