Commit Profile: Jake Sanders

As the class of 2014 signs their national letters of intent, we run down each signee's recruiting process and look back at what it took for the Blue Devils to earn his commitment. Next up is Georgia offensive lineman Jake Sanders.

Name: Jake Sanders

School: Carrollton HS (Carrollton, GA)

Ht/Wt/40: 6-foot-6 / 310lbs / 5.2

Projected Position: Offensive Guard

Recruiting Recap: Sanders chose Duke over offers from California, Kansas State, Mississippi State, and Central Florida.

Quotable: "I was offered on my visit in April and the next day I made the choice to go ahead and commit to Coach Cutcliffe. When I told him, he was very excited. My decision to choose Duke was based on the idea that the program is on the rise and heading in the right direction."

Evaluation: Sanders has spent the better part of the last two years working on improving his body. Prior to the summer of his senior year, Sanders lost more than 30 pounds and then added some good weight back. He now stands 6'6 and 310 pounds. That's terrific size for a guard at the collegiate level, and one who has shown good hand strength and the ability to excel in the run and pass game. Experts report Sanders playing with the kind of nasty streak championed by college coaches, though he will need to improve his technique before getting on the field.

Projected 2014 Season Status: Sanders and his fellow offensive linemen are all scheduled to redshirt during the 2014 season.
