Ballard, who measures out at 6-foot, and 182 pounds, is listed as a cornerback by Scout.com and has a personal best forty time of 4.49 seconds. He is being recruited by nearly all of the schools on his list as an athlete.
Without any firm offers, Ballard knows the value of camping and has scheduled himself a heavy slate of visits in hopes of catching the eyes of various coaches.
"I will definitely be attending camps at East Carolina, Wake Forest, NC State, Charlotte, Richmond, Duke, and Georgia Tech. I am open to everyone, and distance is not a factor in my decision making process."
As for his interest in Duke, Ballard routinely speaks with Coach Boyette about the Blue Devil program and their interest in him.
"He hasn't indicated they are ready to offer, but he has told me they like my speed. He and the coaches want me to come to camp, and they will know more about how my skill set will translate after that."
Following his busy summer, Ballard says he'll return to Wilson Hunt looking to continue to diversify his game, but also taking on a new role as a senior.
"In my senior season, I am looking forward to helping my teammates and coaches accomplish the goal of winning a state championship. I will play multiple positions, wide receiver, cornerback, safety, outside linebacker in the dime package, as well as punt return and kick return. We need to continue to work together as a team and focus on the small details. It's the little things that win championships. As a senior, I want to be more of a leader, and do a better job of leading by example."
