Duke’s Recruitment: Battle is hoping to visit Durham before the end of the summer travel season. The Blue Devils have made a strong early impression, and have been recruiting him for several years beginning with then assistant Chris Collins.
“When they first got in touch with him it was Coach Collins doing a lot of the recruitment,” Battle’s father told TDD. “But then he left for the Northwestern job. After he left, Coach Wojo was the guy we talked to the most, but he recently left to coach Marquette. Now we're talking to Jon Scheyer, and he's doing a good job with Tyus. I believe he was the point guard on their last title team."
That interest level explains why he’s so high on Duke despite a lack of an official offer.
"It is just Duke," explained the player. "Their history and tradition, they have sent a lot of guys to the NBA, and obviously Coach K is a great coach. There is a lot to like about Duke."
