Louisville offers '16 star T.J. Leaf

After a solid showing in front of University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino, Class of 2016 star T.J. Leaf has a new offer. The Cardinals extended an offer to the No. 10 player in Scout.com's ranking for the '16 class. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

El Cajon, Calif., Foothills Christian '16 forward T.J. Leaf had been hearing from the University of Louisville for a month or so.

But Friday afternoon at the adidas Unrivaled event in Chicago was the first opportunity U of L coach Rick Pitino had a chance to evaluate the 6-foot-10 Leaf in person.

Pitino must have been impressed.

Leaf has landed a scholarship offer from the Cardinals on Monday night. He was also recently offered by Florida.

"I like Louisville and they have been calling me a lot," Leaf said. "It's a top program and coach Pitino is one of the best coaches in basketball. I like their style.

"They like to have their four's run and that's what I like to do."

Leaf said among the school's recruiting him the hardest are UCLA, Indiana, Arizona and Michigan. He has been on visits to IU and Michigan and will visit Arizona and Arizona State at sometime next month.

Leaf is familiar with the Louisville area with family nearby. His grandmother lives in Indianapolis and he said nearly 80 percent of his family is rooted in Evansville, Ind. His father, Brad, played at Evansville.
