Cash Earns ACC Player of the Week Honors

Duke safety was honored by the league on Monday afternoon

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt junior safety Jeremy Cash has been named the ACC’s Co-Defensive Back of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

In Duke’s 22-10 loss at Miami, Cash posted a game-high 10 tackles along with 1.0 tackle for loss, two caused fumbles, two quarterback pressures and one pass breakup. He led a Blue Devil defensive effort that limited the Hurricanes to 22 points – 9.5 below their season average entering the week.

For the season, Cash ranks second on the team with 45 total tackles while pacing the squad in tackles for loss (5.0).

Cash shared the Defensive Back of the Week honor with Durell Eskridge of Syracuse. Other weekly honorees include Jacoby Brissett of N.C. State and Deshaun Watson of Clemson (Co-Offensive Back), Tre’ Jackson of Florida State (Offensive Lineman), Rashad Greene of Florida State (Receiver), Tylor Harris of Wake Forest (Defensive Lineman), Jerod Fernandez of N.C. State (Linebacker), Justin Vogel of Miami and Bradley Pinion of Clemson (Co-Specialists). Watson also received Rookie of the Week accolades.

Following an open date, Duke travels to meet Georgia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 11. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m., and the game will be televised by the ACC Network.
