Coach K and Co. Visit Top 16 PG

The Duke coaching staff is hitting the road this week, having already visted commitment Chase Jeter in Nevada, they will now stay over and watch the nation's top point guard in the class of 2016, Derryck Thornton, Jr.

With freshman point guard Tyus Jones a threat to depart Durham after two, and maybe one season, the Blue Devils are on the hunt for Jones' replacement in the class of 2016. Duke has already extended an offer to in-state five-star prospect Dennis Smith, and it appears another lead guard could be closing in on an offer as well.

Derryck Thornton is being recruited by virtually every high major program in the country, including Duke. The Blue Devils' pursuit is a bit later than some of the other programs, but the nation's top point guard is willing to cut Coach K a bit of slack.

"Coach K was doing a lot this summer with USA Basketball and the big boys, so he had to focus on that at that time," Thornton's father, Derryck, Sr told TDD. "They were showing up at a lot of his games."
