DURHAM, N.C. – Duke assistant coach Rick Petri has departed the Blue Devil football coaching staff to pursue other opportunities, head coach David Cutcliffe announced on Friday.
“We certainly appreciate Rick’s efforts in helping build our program,” Cutcliffe said. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Petri, who coached the Duke defensive line, joined the staff prior to the 2011 season and helped the Blue Devils to 28 wins over four seasons including the 2013 ACC Coastal Division championships and three bowl game appearances.
Prior to his four-year stint in Durham, Petri made previous coaching stops at Pittsburg State (1977-78), Arkansas State (1979-88), Ole Miss (1989-91), Louisiana Tech (1992), Miami (1993-95 & 2010), South Carolina (1996-98), Ole Miss (1999-04) and Kentucky (2005-09).
