I am committing to play football at Duke?????? #DukeGang15— Twazanga Mugala (@Mug57) January 19, 2015
Following an official visit to Duke this weekend, Charlotte area prospect Twazanga Mugala made the decision to flip his commitment from Purdue to the Blue Devils.
"I want to thank all of the players and staff for giving me an opportunity to be part of their program," Mugala wrote on his social media account, "But I am decommitting from Purdue. I am committing to play football at Duke."
Mugala had committed to the Boilermaker program back in October, but was intrigued as Duke continued to show interest throughout the Fall. With an interest in plotting a pre-med academic journey, the chance to visit Duke was too much to turn down. And so the 6-foot-3, 225 pound perimeter lineman made the trip this weekend with his parents to be hosted by Tinashe Bere.
Assistant Coach Derek Jones was the point man for this recruitment, which brought Duke it's 18th commitment of the year - an important one for more reasons than just roster depth. Mugala is just the second scholarship commitment from North Carolina in the class of 2015, joining Mount Pleasant High punter Austin Parker.
