Freshman Lineman Out With ACL Injury

Freshman defensive lineman Zach Morris will miss the entire 2015 season after suffering a torn ACL the team announced on Sunday.

Dr. Tee Moorman, Duke’s team orthopedist, has already performed reconstructive surgery and Morris is expected to make a full recovery.

Morris is the second Blue Devil to suffer a torn ACL in the last four weeks, following redshirt senior Kelby Brown, who suffered the same fate in late June.

Prior to his enrollment at Duke this summer, Morris was the second player to commit to the Bleu Devils from the class of 2015. He was rated as a three star prospect by Scout.com out of Ringgold (Ga.) High. He chose the Blue Devils over interest from Kentucky, Mississippi State, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt.

After recovering, he is expected to compete for time as a defensive tackle early in his career.
