Nation's Top Center Sets Duke Official Visit

As Duke continues to seek a third straight top ranked recruiting class, the Blue Devils have landed a first official visit from the nation's top ranked center. Marquez Bolden will be heading to Duke in mid-September to visit with Coach K and the defending national champions. Could a commitment be coming soon after?

The top rated center in the country has set his official visit to Duke.

Marques Bolden will visit Duke on September 18th according to Evan Daniels of

Bolden is rated as the No. 6 overall player in the class of 2016 according to Scout and the top ranked center. He has offers from virtually every high major program in the country including Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas. That is the trio of schools he admitted were sticking out in last week's interview with TDD in which he noted the devlopment of big players was a big selling point of those programs.

On Duke, specficially, Bolden said...

"I started watching them this year and I just really liked what they did and how they were successful," said Bolden. "I liked how they did stuff. I always watched them but I never really paid attention to the stuff that I did this past year like with how I liked their style of play and what they did with their bigs. I always liked watching them play. I noticed how much their bigs touched the ball last year, how many plays off the bigs they did which was cool. How they allowed them to play freely and stretch the floor with everything."

As far as his relationship with the Blue Devil program currently, Bolden says he speaks frequently with associate head coach Jeff Capel as well as Coach Mike Krzyzewski and the rest of the assistants. Each of which has a different message regarding Duke.

"I’ll be talking with Coach Capel and he’ll be talking about a team thing with basketball or I’ll be talking with Coach James and he’ll talk about more individual stuff and how they develop their bigs and Scheyer talks with me about keep on improving."
