2014 Review
After redshirting, Ajeigbe found a reserve role in the Duke backfield during the 2014 season after the Blue Devils lost Jela Duncan to suspension and opportunities opened up in the stable of backs as the season rolled along. His first action came as a member of the punt return team before posting the best day of his young career against Georgia Tech as he rushed for 53 yards on eight carries.

  2015 Preview
With Duncan back along with starter Shaquille Powell and change of pace running back / slot threat Shaun Wilson, it’s going to be a battle for Ajeigbe to get a lot of carries on a consistent basis. Still, Ajeigbe is one of the best pure athletes on the roster and will likely push for carries in what projects to be a run-heavy offensive scheme for Duke.

TDD Projection
With an emphasis on the ground game in Durham, we see Ajeigbe’s strength and athleticism providing several opportunities behind Powell and Duncan. He won’t be an every series back, but does that even exist in Duke’s stable approach? Probably not, but there is a definite hierarchy and depth chart, and we see Ajeigbe beginning the season as the fourth back on the roster. If he continues to work, 2015 could be a precursor to a much bigger role in 2016 after Powell has graduated.

How he ended up in Durham
The former three-star running back prospect picked the Blue Devils over Air Force, Arizona and Northwestern. Following his decision schools such as as Arizona State, Boise State, and Oregon State came calling, but a late process visit to Duke solidified things.
