High School:
Statesville (NC) / Statesville

2014 Review
After playing in all 14 games as a true freshman in 2013, Borders built on his early success by grabbing a starting position during camp and holding on to it for all 13 games in 2014. During that time he recorded a team high three interceptions. It was the second time in as many seasons in Durham that he led the Blue Devils in INTs - just the fourth player in program history to do so.

  2015 Preview
Borders has a death grip on the starting cornerback position and for good reason. He’s appeared in 27 games, and started 13 of them. He’s recorded seven interceptions in those appearances, and should be on the field throughout most of the season after playing nearly 1,060 snaps a year ago. He’ll be backed up by Zach Muñiz.

TDD Projection
Depending on how the defensive line and linebackers perform, opponents may not throw as much on Duke this season. The flip side of that argument is that the Blue Devils won’t have any hesitation to put Borders on an island while trying to drum up extra pressure against the run with blitzes to generate stops and pressure.

How he ended up in Durham
Somewhat of a sleeper prospect out of high school, Borders picked Duke over an offer from Georgia State and interest from Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wake Forest.
