Fort Lauderdale (FL) / St. Thomas Aquinas School
High School senior at St. Thomas Aquinas School. Rated as a three star prospect by Scout.com and the fourth best defensive tackle in the state of Florida..
Boyce will likely redshirt as Duke rotates in the defensive line prospects from the class of 2014 including Cerenord and Shabazz. However, the plan would be for Boyce to provide a big change of pace for the Blue Devil pass rush early on in his career. Him appearing on the two-deep as a redshirt freshman is a potentially reachable goal.
He’s a small defensive tackle who will provide a change of pace as the Blue Devils continue to search for a sustainable and consistent pass rush on a year to year basis. With a strong motor and a unique approach to the game, Boyce could even move around the defensive line depending on the situation as he told us on signing day. .
How he ended up in Durham
The three star prospect chose the Blue Devils over offers from Nebraska, Central Florida, Illinois, Louisville, and North Carolina State. Following his commitment Boyce was heavily pursued as his senior season progressed by schools such as Syracuse, Arkansas, Cincinnati and Rutgers.
