Fort Myers (FL) / Fort Myers
After his redshirt season, Douglas appeared in 12 of 13 games, in his first season after making the transition from wide receiver during Spring Practice 2014. In those 12 appearances - mostly on special teams - he recorded one tackle against North Carolina.
Along with Terrence Alls, Douglas remains suspended from game action as the 2015 season begins. The suspension began in March after Coach Cutcliffe announced the players were being held out for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Cutcliffe has, in the preseason, indicated that both Douglas and Alls have a path towards reinstatement at some point this season.
Douglas’ suspension is going to make things extremely tough on him as the secondary continues to add talent in each recruiting class. He’s currently listed as the third string cornerback behind junior Breon Borders and sophomore Zach Muñiz. With redshirt Johnathan Lloyd also in the mix. The longer the suspension continues, the less and less likely we’ll see Douglas on the field for meaningful (if any) snaps in 2015.
How he ended up in Durham
Douglas picked Duke in July over offers from Boston College, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Iowa State, and Purdue. He also had heavy interest from NC State after camping in Raleigh.
