After being one of the most productive backs on the roster, Duncan was poised to be the starter a season ago. However, he was suspended from the program for a year - missing the entire 2014 season.
Duncan returns to the program and adds another strong presence to the stable of backs. He’s the probably the most powerful back on the roster and will be called upon to pick up blue collar yards behind starter Shaquille Powell. Along with Shaun Wilson and Powell, Duncan will make up a very talented and deep backfield.
We look for Duncan to get most of his carries in short yardage and goal line situations, though the two headed attach of he and Powell will wear down opposing defenses while Duke works to get Wilson into space to make plays after the play. We’d expect Duncan to log around 110-115 carries on the season along with Powell.
How he ended up in Durham
Duncan had fooled the recruiting world by tweeting that he was down to Wake Forest and East Carolina only to pull a Duke had from his bag at a 9 AM press conference at Mallard Creek High on National Signing Day 2012. Roughly a dozen schools have offered Duncan, including Duke, North Carolina, East Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Purdue.
