2014 Review
After missing the entire 2013 season, Grier made the change from linebacker to defensive end and added some weight to accommodate his new position. He eventually became the top reserve at defensive end and appeared in 11 games for 245 snaps. During that time he recorded six tackles and one quarterback pressure.

2015 Preview
Grier is listed as the starter at defensive end ahead of both fourth year junior Allen Jackson and true freshman Marquies Price. Duke’s defensive scheme is built on speed and both Grier and Kyler Brown have more than you average defensive lineman as both came to Duke as linebackers. They will both need to make their presence known by getting around offensive tackles.

TDD Projection
Greer may be the starter, and he’s got quite a bit of experience in the program, but he’s going to have his hands full holding off both Jackson and dark horse starter candidate, true freshman Marquies Price. We’d expect Grier to log around 450 snaps this season while splitting time with his backups and pushing to hold on to the spot.

How he ended up in Durham
Grier committed to Duke early in April of 2010 as a member of the class of 2011 over interest from NC State and North Carolina.

"I mostly committed to them because of the academics. I like the campus lifestyle. I really liked how it was while I was there.

"I really like the coaching staff at Duke. I feel like they know what they are talking about. They know how to fix the problems we have as players. I think coach Cutcliffe is a great coach."
