Suwanee (GA) / Collins Hill
Redshirted as a reserve and scout team tackle.
Harris impressed enough in his freshman year to be charted as the second string right tackle behind returning starter Casey Blaser. He’ll likely see his first game action snaps in the coming season as Blaser’s understudy as one of the young offensive linemen who has performed well and earned his way up the depth chart.
A season ago Blaser played over 900 snaps and will likely gobble of the lion’s share this season, with Harris getting the rest. The trend will likely continue into next season where Harris will be preparing to take over once Blaser graduates. What Harris provides immediately is a game ready tackle that, while young, could be called upon to step in and do well - much like young players such as Austin Davis, Sterling Korona, and Zach Harmon.
How he ended up in Durham
Harris was scheduled to visit North Carolina State and North Carolina, but a last minute trip to Duke ended up being the difference in his recruitment. Harris is considered a three star prospect, and the nation's No. 48 offensive tackle. Harris chose Duke over offers from NC State, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Kentucky.
