Hayes is charted as a safety and will being his career redshirting and projecting as either a rover or bandit next season. *****

TDD Projection
Hayes projects as a player who will first find a spot in the defensive backfield and then challenge to move up the depth chart as a third year, redshirt sophomore and beyond.


How he ended up in Durham
A very early commitment, Hayes selected Duke over South Florida Wake Forest, and Cincinnati. The decision came within a week of South Florida making their scholarship offer. The difference was the love Hayes received from David Cutcliffe's staff in the recruiting process.

"(Duke) just felt like family to me," Hayes said. "When I went up there, there was a lot of love and stuff like that. It felt like it was the right place for me."


High School Highlights
Four-year letterwinner at Grayson High School under coach Mickey Conn ... selected to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl following senior campaign and intercepted a pass in the contest to help limit the West squad to just 250 total yards of offense in a 24-3 East victory ... also selected to the Rivalries of Gwinnett All-Star Game after senior year ... served as team captain as a senior and booked 91 tackles with 19 PBUs and five INTs ... helped the Rams to a 10-2 mark as a senior and share of the AAAAAA Region 8 title with a 7-1 record ... squad advanced to the second round of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) AAAAAA playoffs before falling to Tucker, 26-23 [info from this last section gathered from GoDuke.com]
