Redshirt Freshman

2014 Review
Lee was thought to be a potential candidate to avoid redshirting as a true freshman based off his high school reputation and skill set. However, the program was afforded the opportunity to keep the shirt on both Lee and Chris Taylor last season, allowing both to gain strength and speed in hopes of moving into the rotation this season.

2015 Preview
Lee and Taylor both put their off years to good use, and both find themselves high up the depth chart. Lee is slotted as the primary back up to the team’s top overall receiver, Johnell Barnes.

TDD Projection
He’ll likely see spot duty throughout the season when Duke attempts to go four and five wide, and could push to get on the field behind either Barnes depending on the match-ups. You may also see him earn snaps behind McCaffrey, who is set to graduate after this year. Given his size and speed, and Duke’s valuation of both, it’s a safe bet that Lee’s going to have his number called frequently over the next four years.

How he ended up in Durham
Lee went all the way down to the week of Signing Day before committing to Duke following his late January 2014 official visit.

The three star Florida wide receiver chose the Blue Devils over finalists Vanderbilt and Stanford. Others to offer included Auburn, Boston College, California, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Illinois, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, South Florida, Stanford, USC, Vanderbilt, West Virgina, and Wisconsin.
