6-foot-2 / 295 pounds
Smyrna (GA) / Walker School
After working through his redshirt season in 2013, Ramsay appeared in all 13 games last year and recorded five stops in 228 snaps. Those five tackles came in five different games including the contests against Georgia Tech and Arizona State.
Ramsay begins the season as the top reserve at defensive tackle behind senior Carlos Wray. At 6-foot-2 and 295 pounds, Ramsay is also the program’s top performer in the power clean where he lifts 352 pounds.
Not only is the third year sophomore working as the presumptive top reserve on the interior of the defensive line, he’s also battling against a number of younger players also vying for a spot in the rotation including redshirt freshmen Quaven Ferguson and Edgar Cerenord as well as true freshman pass rushing specialist Brandon Boyce. We expect Ramsay to get see more snaps this season and at more crucial moments.
How he ended up in Durham:
Ramsay was being recruited by Duke, Yale, Georgia, and Virginia. He had offers from Navy, Georgia State, and Furman. After camping in Durham, however, the first BCS offer came in mid-June and it was the last one he needed.
"Coach Cutcliffe offered me personally [at camp]. The first coach to contact me in this process was Coach Petri. When I had a chance to call the coaches [to commit] they were both really excited and welcomed me to Duke."
