FB Forecast: OT Reno Rosene

We continue our player by player preview of the 2015 Duke Blue Devils with a look at a young offensive lineman who enrolled early with all the tools to factor in along the line of scrimmage after a year or two of preparation.

Reno Rosene

6-foot-7 / 325 pounds

High School:

Westlake Village (CA) / Oaks Christian

2014 Review:

Rosene was a there star prospect out of California who was described as a massive tackle with a solid frame. The next step in his development was always going to be refining his technique in pass protection and improving on finishing his blocks on the run.   He was also a player that benefit tremendously from a college weight and conditioning program.

2015 Preview

Rosen enrolled early at Duke, joining the program in January of 2014.  When he left California he was listed at 340 pounds and has already dropped 15 pounds since arriving at Duke.

TDD Projection

He was recruited to play tackle and will likely begin to factor in next season with 18 months of college coaching at his back.  With a great frame and solid work ethic, we’d expect him to eventually factor into the rotation on the outside, but not before he completes his physical transformation which will including continued loss of ‘bad’ weight and then adding strength.

How he ended up in Durham

The three star prospect chose the Blue Devils over offers from Washington State, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Arizona State, and others. And while the West Coast schools thought they could make headway, it was a trip to Durham in April that really made the difference.

"My dad and I went out there in April and had a chance to sit down with Coach Cutcliffe and Coach Latina. I sat and talked with Coach Latina for over an hour about the offense, the team, and the different schemes. After that I just felt like this guy is destined to be my coach."
